Our overseas study programs are characterized by direct exchanges with business schools in East Asia, a region which has maintained economic interdependence with Japan and sustained high economic growth, and visits to outstanding local companies. Through which, we aim to help students develop an international way of thinking in business and to create a new human network. This year, on the occasion of the 7th program, we set up exchange programs in the Chinese region across the Taiwan Strait, similar to last year’s programs. Students attended special lectures and participated in panel discussions with current and former students of the EMBA and MOT courses at the College of Management, National Sun Yat-sen University (NSYSU) in Taiwan; and the Graduate School at Shenzhen, Tsinghua University, in Shenzhen City, China respectively. We also took part in company visits that were arranged by the respective universities.
On September 10, we paid a courtesy visit to Dean Shyh-Jer CHEN and Director Tung-Ching LIN from the International Business MBA of the College of Management, NSYSU to hold a provisional MOU signing ceremony with K2BS. In the morning, students attended a BS special lecture by Professor Yung-Hsing GUO of the College of Management titled “Taiwan-Japan Business Relationship and Corporation between Companies”. In the afternoon, we attended a special lecture by President Po Szu Wu of Kawasaki Trading Co. Ltd. Kaohsiung Office, titled “Success Stories on Taiwan-Japan Business”, which was followed by discussions and a social gathering with graduates of the EMBA course of the College of Management, NSYSU.
On September 11, the day started with a courtesy visit to Vice Director Chen Kang SU of Tainan Science Park, followed by a visit to Biotanico Inc., a manufacturer of Chinese medicines, for interviews and a showroom tour. In the afternoon, we visited Delta Electronics Tainan Office and Hanshin Department Store HQ for interviews and on-site tours. The next day on September 12, we took part in a city tour of Kaohsiung and visited (1) the Port of Kaohsiung, (2) facilities from the colonial period, and (3) the Kaohsiung City Museum.
On September 12, we moved on to mainland China and On September 13, visited the Graduate School at Shenzhen, Tsinghua University to pay a courtesy visit to Professor Wei ZHANG Vice Dean of the Graduate School. Afterward, students attended a lecture delivered by Prof. ZHANG titled “Characteristics of Innovation in China”, which was followed by an afternoon lecture titled “Effects of China-US Trade Friction on Industrial Development in China,” which was delivered by Associate Professor Benhe GAO of the Graduate School. Afterwards, we had a networking meeting with the members of the Graduate School who had gathered at the venue. On the morning of September 14 we visited Malong Technologies HQ Shenzhen Office for a tour of its Research Center and demonstration rooms. In the afternoon, we went to Shenzhen Hangsheng Electronics HQ and a Japanese affiliated company, Ricoh Components & Products (Shenzhen) Ltd., for factory tours.
While managing our tight schedule, we were able to get the latest information and knowledge on the local economic and industrial situations, the secrets of successful business models, and the competitiveness of companies. In each of the panel discussions and networking events with top management, 20-30 business owners and senior managers gathered and extended a warm welcome to us. The participants had individual meetings among their industries, and we hope that their business networking was fruitful.
