Overseas Study Program FY2017

Destination : Taipei, Nanjing, Shanghai
This fiscal year’s overseas study program was the 6th time. We set up exchange programs in the Chinese region across the Taiwan Strait as similar as the last year. Students took special lectures at the Chung-Hua Institution for Economic Research in Taiwan and Nanjing University Business School in China respectively. They participated in panel discussions with current and former students of the MBA and EMBA courses.
On September 4, we made a courtesy visit to Vice President Jiann-Chyuan WANG and Director Shin-Horng CHEN of International Division, the Chung-Hua Institution for Economic Research. In the morning, we took a BS special lecture titled “What is an ideal competitive relationship between Taiwanese and Japanese companies?” by Dr. Chih-Yen TAI, Associate Research Fellow of the Institution. In the afternoon, they took a special lecture under the theme of “Successful cases of global business cooperation” by Mr. Mac MA, General Manager of Pilot TV, followed by discussions with all participants, including graduates of the EMBA course of the Department of Business Administration, National Taipei University and students of the EMBA course of Chung Hsing University.
On September 5, we visited iStaging Corp. to have an interview to Mr. Nick CHEN, VP investment and took a showroom tour then. In the afternoon, we interviewed to Mr. Desmond CK Wong, Special Assistant to President, Mr. Limin HSU, Director of Corporate HR Management of Qisda Corporation, and also interviewed to Mr. David ML LEE, Senior Manager of HR Center and other members of Qisda’s affiliated company BenQ Corporation. Showroom tours were well organized in both. In addition, we visited MOS Food Services Inc. We interviewed to Mr. Jun TAKIFUKA, the Executive Officer of International HQ and Ms. Belle Chu, Deputy General Manager of PR Department. On September 6, we interviewed to Ms. Meili Hsiao, Director General of International Division and other members of the Institute for Information Industry regarding its role played and the development of the information industry in Taiwan.
On September 7, we moved to Mainland China and joined a meeting in exchange ideas with Prof. Jing LI, Director of the MBA Education Center, and other faculties of Nanjing University Business School, followed by a lecture titled “How companies can strengthen competitiveness under industrial structure adjustment” by Prof. Qiang GENG, Director of the Population Research Institute of Nanjing University. In the afternoon, we took a lecture titled “Business alliance practices between China and Kyushu” by Mr. Zili ZHENG, President of Nanjing Supply Chain Management Co., Ltd. Then a networking event including business matching was organized with Nanjing University Business School Alumni Association and Jiangsu MBA Federation. In the morning of September 8, we visited Nanjing Pabo Auto Service Chain Store Co., Ltd. We interviewed to President Junsheng GOU and took a site visit. In the afternoon, we visited Nanjing TOTO Co., Ltd. We interviewed to Mr. Satoshi MITSUICHI, Director General Manager and took a factory tour. In the morning of September 9, we visited Mr. Jumpei YAMAGUCHI, Director of Fukuoka Prefectural Government Shanghai Office and we got a presentation from him on local economic situation.
While going through the tight schedule, we were able to obtain the latest information and knowledge on local economic industry situation, the significance and competitiveness of the company’s business model. We were warmly welcomed as there were 30-40 managements and senior executives gathered either in panel discussions or networking events of managements. It is expected that the concrete and effective business matching was also obtained as individual meetings between participants for each business field was held.
